Lifeline Assistance Now Available in Valley City
August 2026
Every month, I hear from members across our service area about what matters most to them, and staying connected is right at the top of the list… whether it’s calling family, checking in with a doctor, or getting online for work or school. That’s why I’m glad to share some good news for our members in Valley City.
BEK Communications Cooperative has recently been approved to offer Lifeline assistance to qualifying customers in the Valley City exchange. If you or someone you know in the Valley City area is struggling to keep up with phone or internet bills, this program may be able to help.
What Is Lifeline?
Lifeline is a federal program that helps make phone and internet service more affordable for qualifying households. It provides a discount of up to $9.25 off your monthly bill. The program covers phone service, internet service, or bundled packages, and it’s available through BEK now that we’ve been approved to offer it in Valley City.
It’s worth noting that Lifeline is designed to help those who need it most and is limited to one benefit per household.
Who Qualifies?
You may be eligible for Lifeline if your household income is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if you or someone in your household already participates in a program like SNAP, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Federal Public Housing Assistance, or Veterans Pension benefits.
How to Apply
Applying is simple. Valley City customers who are interested can apply online by visiting the National Lifeline Support portal, or by applying directly on the BEK website. You can find our Lifeline terms and conditions, along with everything you need to get started, right on our page.
I’d encourage anyone in the Valley City area who thinks they might qualify to take a few minutes and look into it. A discount like this can make a real difference in a household’s monthly budget, and that’s exactly the kind of support a cooperative like ours was built to provide.
As always, if you have questions about Lifeline or anything else regarding your BEK service, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re your neighbors, and we’re here to help.
