New Program on BEK TV
Featuring Western North Dakota’s People Behind the Communities
July 2026
There’s no shortage of stories worth telling in western North Dakota. Every day, the people, businesses, and organizations are holding our communities together by doing meaningful work, often out of range from the spotlight. A new program on BEK TV aims to change that.
Western Edge Living is a 30-minute show built around the voices, faces, and ideas that define life on the western edge of our state. Hosted by Bill Palanuk, the program invites newsmakers, non-profits, community groups, and local organizations to sit down and share what they’re doing, why it matters, and how it connects to the broader fabric of western North Dakota life.
“Western edge” isn’t just a geographic description, it’s a mindset. The communities out west have a character all their own, and Western Edge Living is designed to reflect that. Each episode is a conversation, a chance for guests with genuine ties to the region to speak directly to their neighbors.
One of the program’s most distinctive features is an open invitation to new small businesses, open less than a year, to come tell their story. Starting something from scratch in a small community takes courage, and Western Edge Living offers those entrepreneurs a platform to introduce themselves to the world on their own terms.
Whether it’s a new storefront on Main Street, a non-profit rallying volunteers around a local cause, or a community leader working quietly behind the scenes, this is a show that believes every corner of western North Dakota deserves to be heard.
Western Edge Living airs Sundays at 6:00 p.m. CT on BEK TV, with a replay every Saturday at 4:30 p.m. CT. To find your local BEK TV channel, visit bek.tv/channel-finder.
