Two Simple Steps You Should Take Right Now To Protect Your Account

Need to add a user to your account? No problem. Running into trouble? We've got you. That's the BEK difference, and it's not going away.

But as your local provider, we also take seriously what happens behind the scenes to keep your account safe. Cybercriminals are getting smarter, and email remains one of their favorite targets. That's why BEK has implemented stricter security measures to better protect our email users and why we're asking every customer to take two important steps right away.

Step 1: Reset Your Password

It may feel like a small thing, but your password is your first line of defense, and the stakes have never been higher. Today's cybercriminals don't just guess passwords. They use sophisticated automated tools that can run through millions of combinations in seconds, purchase stolen credentials from data breaches on the dark web, and exploit weak or reused passwords across multiple accounts.

A password you've had for years, no matter how clever it felt at the time, may no longer be strong enough to stand up to modern threats. That's why BEK has enhanced its password security requirements. When you log into your BEK webmail portal and reset your password, you will be prompted to meet our new, stronger security standards. Think of it as upgrading the lock on your front door - it only takes a few minutes, and the protection it provides is well worth it.

Step 2: Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Even the strongest password can be compromised. Two-factor authentication, also known as multi-factor authentication, or MFA, adds a critical second layer of protection to your account.

Here's how it works: after entering your password, you'll be asked to verify your identity a second time, typically through a code sent to your phone or email. That means even if someone manages to get hold of your password, they still can't get into your account without that second verification step.

BEK webmail fully supports two-factor authentication, and turning it on takes just a few steps:

Log into your BEK webmail portal
Go to Settings
Select Two-Factor Authentication
Follow the prompts to enable it
