Connecting the Dots
Getting the Most Out of Webex
September 24, 2026
Share with your teamEach edition of Connecting the Dots breaks down the technology you and your team rely on most in the workplace. This time, we’re focusing on Webex, the collaboration and video conferencing platform that keeps teams connected through virtual meetings, calling, messaging, and large-scale webinars.
Webex does a lot, but a handful of everyday features come up again and again. Here’s how to handle them.
Making calls
On your PC, select Calling from the menu on the far left to open the dial pad. It works the same way on mobile.
If you have contacts saved, just hover over a contact’s name where you’ll see options to message them, call them, or start a meeting, all without leaving the app.
One thing to keep in mind: calls to people outside your organization are voice-only. You can’t start a video call or send a message to an external number.
Checking voicemail
Missed calls show up right in the Voicemail section of the left navigation panel. Click on a message to listen to it, just like checking messages on your desk phone — because that’s essentially what’s happening. Webex connects directly to your voicemail box.
If you need to call the person back, you don’t have to look up their number. Just select the phone icon next to the message, and Webex dials them for you.
Transferring a call between devices
Say you start a call on your smartphone but need to keep talking after you sit down at your desk, or vice versa. It doesn’t matter which device the call started on; the transfer process works the same either way.
On the device you want to transfer the call to, open Webex, go to the dial pad, and enter: *11. Then hit send or simply wait for the transfer to pick up the call on that device automatically.
Sharing your screen
While you’re on a call, select Share to bring up your content-sharing options, then choose the screen or window you want to share.
Once you’re sharing, you’ll see an orange bar appear at the top of your screen as your reminder that everyone on the call can see what you’re seeing. When you’re ready to stop, just click Stop in that orange bar.
Have a Webex question we didn’t cover?
That’s exactly what Connecting the Dots is for. Send your questions to support@bektel.coop, and we may feature the answer in an upcoming edition.
