Rural Ambulance District Receives FRS Community Grant
Improving Emergency Response Technology
November 2025
BEK Communications Cooperative, in partnership with The Foundation for Rural Services (FRS), the philanthropic arm of NTCA-The Rural Broadband Association, is proud to announce that the Napoleon Ambulance District has been awarded a $4,320 grant through the FRS Community Grant Program. This funding will assist with upgrading laptops to tablets, allowing the department to transition fully to digital records.
This technology upgrade will enhance the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of the district’s emergency response operations. By reducing paperwork and improving data management, Napoleon’s first responders can focus more time and attention on what matters most, saving lives and serving the community.
“We’ve been wanting to get some tablets to capture electronic signatures, especially when going into hospitals, instead of having to do everything on paper, which gets to be a lot sometimes,” says Kristen Moos, Napoleon Ambulance District Squad Leader. “We rely mostly on taxpayer money, and we don’t get full reimbursement from insurance companies, so we do rely heavily on grants to make sure our community has ambulance service, especially when living so far from the nearest hospital.”
“The FRS Community Grants are awarded to amazing organizations doing important work in their region,” said FRS Executive Director Pam Becker. “We are proud of the people and organizations in rural communities and honored to partner with NTCA members to help make these wonderful projects a reality and rural communities thrive. Thank you to the many donors who support the Community Grant program and FRS.”
“Without grants like these, we wouldn’t be able to keep our doors open. Thank you, FRS and BEK Communications for supporting us and our community!”
In total, FRS awarded more than $145,000 to 31 rural-serving organizations nationwide to support projects in public service, education, health, and business development. To learn more about BEK’s partnership with FRS, or to apply for a grant, visit bek.coop/coop/frs-grant-application.
