High School Rodeo Stars Shine at State Finals in Bowman
Athletes Compete for State Titles and Prepare for Nationals
July 2025
BEK Communications Cooperative congratulates all the talented young athletes who competed at the North Dakota High School Rodeo Association (NDHSRA) State Finals held June 11–15 in Bowman. These dedicated cowboys and cowgirls showcased the grit, heart, and determination that define the spirit of rodeo.
A total of 48 athletes qualified to compete in 15 events at the state level. According to NDHSRA President Chad Miller, this year’s finals saw an even mix of first-time qualifiers and seasoned returners, several of whom competed in multiple events. “The sport has definitely become more competitive,” said Miller. “Our youth are participating in more rodeos throughout the year than they were 15 years ago, so they’re becoming more skilled in their events.”
Miller, now in his fourth year as NDHSRA President, says it’s rewarding to see how these young athletes grow over time. “They’ve all worked so hard all year. To make it to the top in the state is a huge accomplishment.”
From all of us at BEK, congratulations to the athletes, families, and communities who make North Dakota rodeo such a proud tradition. We’re honored to help share your story, and we’ll be cheering on our qualifiers as they head to the National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR), taking place July 13–19 at the Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs, Colorado.
The NDHSRA Finals are part of the larger BEK TV Rodeo Series, which features top rodeo action from across the region all season long. To learn more about the full lineup of events airing on BEK TV, visit Rodeo Returns to BEK TV.
