Special Episodes Inspire Viewers to Shop Local

Bismarck, ND - With the holiday shopping season in full swing, BEK TV is continuing its mission to support local communities by encouraging viewers to buy local. Through its weekly series Made Local, hosted by Lori Hinz, BEK TV has partnered with Pride of Dakota to showcase the hardworking entrepreneurs who help power North Dakota’s economy.


As part of this special collaboration, BEK TV is featuring 10 Pride of Dakota members from the annual Pride of Dakota Holiday Showcase held in Bismarck on December 5. The first five businesses were highlighted in a special Made Local episode that aired on December 14. The remaining five will be featured in a second special episode airing Sunday, December 21, at 8:30 p.m. CT on BEK TV.

Since 1985, Pride of Dakota has worked to promote and enhance the marketing of North Dakota businesses, products, and services. The program offers business development resources and marketing opportunities to help entrepreneurs start or grow their businesses. Today, more than 500 member companies participate in Pride of Dakota. The program is administered by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture under the direction of Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring.


The Pride of Dakota Holiday Showcase is an annual event hosted by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture. It features hundreds of North Dakota businesses selling unique, locally made products such as food, art, jewelry, and home décor. The showcase serves as a major holiday shopping destination while supporting local entrepreneurs and strengthening the state’s economy. The 2025 series included stops in Dickinson, Minot, Grand Forks, Fargo, and Bismarck, offering free admission, cooking demonstrations, and family-friendly activities like visits with Santa, all promoting the “Made in North Dakota” brand.


Made Local on BEK TV offers a unique look at the entrepreneurial spirit of North Dakota and beyond. Host Lori Hinz travels to communities throughout the region to introduce viewers to the people behind the businesses who help local economies thrive. The show features a wide range of businesses, from established enterprises to small, intimate shops, ensuring each one is recognized for the passion, dedication, and hard work behind products proudly labeled “Made in North Dakota.”
