BEK TV Brings Home Two Eric Sevareid Awards

May 2, 2025

[Bismarck, ND] – BEK TV is excited to share that two of its sportscasters were recently honored at the Eric Sevareid Awards ceremony, hosted by the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association on April 12, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Chris Brintle took home first place in the Sports Play-by-Play category for small markets. Jordan Hassler earned an Award of Merit in the same category. These awards recognize their hard work, talent, and passion for calling live sports.

Chris and Jordan’s strong play-by-play skills and commitment to great sports coverage helped set them apart from broadcasters across a six-state region. BEK TV is proud of their accomplishments and thankful for their dedication to giving viewers the best possible experience.

The Eric Sevareid Awards are named after a famous journalist from North Dakota who worked for CBS. Each year, the awards honor the best broadcast journalists and stations in radio, television, and online news across the Upper Midwest.

BEK TV is now the largest broadcaster of high school and college sports in the region. With nearly 40 Eric Sevareid Awards and honors from coaches and local organizations, the BEK sports team continues to be recognized for its outstanding work.

BEK TV is one of the only locally-owned, non-corporate television broadcasting networks remaining in the country and produces more local content than any other television station in the Midwest. It broadcasts in North Dakota on over-the-air television and across the world via streaming on BEK TV+.
The concept behind BEK TV’s programming is to provide a media service platform that is unscripted and uncensored. The majority of BEK TV hosts are untrained broadcasters who share their perspectives and views on topics and issues that people are talking about. The BEK network never controls the messaging.
BEK TV is the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 winner of the Bismarck Tribune’s Best of the Best contest, selected by the people for “Best Local TV Station”. BEK TV host Lori Hinz is the winner of the 2024 “Best TV Personality” award. Both were chosen by the people.
