BEK Shines a Spotlight on Special Kids Camp
August 2025
Each summer, the McQuade Charity Softball Tournament brings community spirit, athleticism, and philanthropy together in the Bismarck-Mandan community. This year, BEK was proud to partner with the 2025 McQuade Tournament planning committee to help promote a truly special addition to the event.
Kids Camp is a life-changing experience created by the USA Patriots, a nonprofit team of veteran amputees who travel the country playing competitive softball and golf. The mission of USA Patriots goes well beyond the ballfield; they use their platform to inspire, uplift, and serve, especially when it comes to children living with limb loss. In 2014, they launched Kids Camp, a week-long, all-expenses-paid program for children ages 8 to 12, designed to empower and connect young amputees.
This year, Kids Camp was held in Bismarck during the week of the McQuade Tournament. USA Patriots athletes served as mentors and coaches, helping campers develop both athletic skills and life confidence. With shared experiences and adaptive training, these veterans provide a powerful example of perseverance and hope from someone who’s walked a similar path.
To help share their incredible story and promote Kids Camp, BEK welcomed the USA Patriots into our BEK TV studio for an interview and then aired clips of that interview during some of our sports broadcasts leading up to the McQuade Tournament. The goal was to shine a light on the purpose and impact of Kids Camp and the USA Patriot program.
