Message from the CEO
Five Time Nominee for Best Local TV Station – And We’re Just Getting Started!
August 2025
When I joined BEK Communications Cooperative in 2006, the Board of Directors shared a bold vision: Bring North Dakotans services and programming they’d never experienced before. That was a commitment we made, and it’s what we’ve done. Today, BEK TV is proud to be North Dakota’s largest producer of original, local, unscripted, and uncensored television, and once again, we’re honored to be nominated by the people for Best Local TV Station in the Bismarck Tribune’s Best of the Best contest.
No other TV network in North Dakota produces more live content. BEK TV broadcasts hundreds of high school and college athletic events each year and has earned nearly 25 Eric Sevareid Awards from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association. We’ve also become a leader in opinion programming, hosting 12 weekly shows, each uniquely produced by the host, not by a corporate news director or out-of-state ownership. We don’t tell our hosts what to say; we give them the platform to speak freely.
This recognition is more than just a title. It’s a clear message that North Dakotans value local, independent programming that reflects our way of life. We’re not just broadcasting sports and news; we’re preserving a voice for the people of North Dakota.
And we’re not done. We’re expanding our programming with more news, more entertainment, and more opportunities for fresh talent to share their perspectives. BEK TV is just getting started.
Please take a moment today, and every day through August 13, to vote for BEK TV, and for Dawn Palumbo and Jonah Lantto, as Best Local TV Station and Best TV Personalities. Let’s show the state that independent media, powered by North Dakotans, is here to stay.
